Indians No Longer Need a Visa to Visit Brazil | This and Other Reasons to Travel to Brazil in 2024!

As announced by Brazil President Bolsonaro on October 2019, Indians can now travel to Brazil without a visa. Earlier this year, Brazil ended its visa requirements for leisure and business travellers from the United States, Japan, Australia and Canada.

The visa-free scheme was initiated so as to tap into the thriving tourism industry which has clearly worked—there was a 25% hike in tourism from those countries following this announcement. The president, apparently, has made this extension on the lookout for making tourism a more significant contributor to this South American country’s GDP.

What it means to travellers and how has this rule made travellers’ life easier?

Before this visa scheme, travellers needed to submit:
1. An end-to-end itinerary
2. Flight tickets, accommodation details and even internal transfer passes
3. Sometimes, immunization certificates during flu seasons
4. Pay visa cost which starts at around 8k
5. By now you’d have reached here: Do I really have to visit Brazil this year?

Now that Brazil has announced a visa-free entry:
1. Indian passport holder? Pack and fly off to Brazil
2. End of story

How long this scheme allows you to stay in Brazil?

Travellers from these countries can stay in Brazil for a period of 90 days(!!), which can be extended to a further 90-day period.

But wait! Visa-free entry is not the only reason to visit Brazil.

These are the other reasons why you should visit Brazil at least once in your lifetime!

1. Brazil runs deep in culture!

Brazil is a melting pot of varied culture and ethnicity that’s equally fascinating and complex. Brazil’s culture and societal perceptions are shaped by Brazilian and western concepts alike. You’ll never feel like an outsider there, feel free to explore Brazil beyond the tourist footprints.

2. The most grandeur of carnivals take place in Brazil

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably have heard of the Brazilian Carnival. The most colourful, eccentric, marvellous carnival of the world. Lakhs of visitors party, bond over chats and drinks, cheer the elegantly dressed-up artists performing traditional dances.

3. Brazil and its beaches is a love story you should know about!

Brazil has a whopping 2095 beaches in total, including the world’s longest beach, Praia do Cassino. Brazil has beautiful and world-famous beaches such as Copacabana and Ipanema to visit and you know what sets Brazilian beaches apart from its counterparts? Brazil’s comfortable weather that leaves the beaches shiny and flawless all-year-round.

4. The cuisine that’ll leave an irreplaceable place in your heart

The Portuguese brought along their sugary tang touch whereas the Arabs brought their distinctively aromatic spices that elevate just about any food. All these along with local concoctions have refined Brazilian cuisine for ages and what we are left with is lip-smacking food that’s soaked in the country’s culture. 5. Brazil is a paradise for those who take their coffee very seriously!

Brazil has been the world’s largest coffee producer for several decades now. Stop by the quaint cafes in Sao Paulo to taste premium dark-roasted Arabica and Robusta coffee served the cafezinho way. The flavour is bittersweet, with a tad more concentration on the sweetness.
