1. Pula Film Festival – Stars descend on Pula

The Pula Film Festival also know as the Pulski film festival is the oldest Croatian film festival held annually in a Roman amphitheatre known as the Pula Arena since 1954.  The festival showcases critically acclaimed local and national films  and screenings are open to the general public. The Pulski festival is also the venue for the annual Croatian film industry awards. The Golden Arenas awards are said to be the Croatian equivalent of the Oscars. Watch stardom descend on Pula at this film festival.

2. Dubrovnik Festival – Dubrovnik announces summer

When: July 10 – Aug 25

Where: Dubrovnik

The Dubrovnik festival is how Croatia celebrates summer. With programs that extend over a month, the annual festival has been a tradition since 1950. More than 70 open-air venues are put up across the city of Dubrovnik, highlighting its Renaissance architecture. An extensive mix of classical music, theater, opera and dance performances are presented throughout the month long festival.

3. International Folklore festival – At its cultural best

Where: Zagreb

Zagreb hosts Croatia’s International Folklore festival, held annually to highlight the country’s cultural heritage. This year the festival is into its 50th edition and will have the folk bands not just from Croatia but across the world. Every year, a region of Croatia is identified and folklore from that region is promoted in the festival. Croatia’s folk music has distinctive styles of church singing traditions, while contemporary ethnomusic is also popular. Stage performances alongside workshops will be put up across the venue. 4. Soundwave Festival

One of the ten best music festivals in Europe, Soundwave has been creating a buzz among music lovers around Europe. The festival brings together a unique blend of music genres ranging from reggae, soul, jazz and more. 5. Days of Diocletian’ festival – History in Togas

Where: Split, Croatia

The history town of Split relives its past with its streets becoming a Roman legion of sorts with the ‘Days of Diocletian’ festival. People dressed up as Roman soldiers in togas play football and entertain masses with its gladiator flights. The city center becomes a venue for music and dance with Dalmatian choir, Klapa taking center-stage. Enjoy the entertainment while feasting on a Roman-inspired food lineup.

6. Outlook Festival

Where: Pula, Croatia

The Outlook festival is more than just a music festival. It is the largest Sound-system Culture festival in Europe. An annual event hosted in Pula, the festival is set against the picturesque backdrops of a fort above the Adriatic Sea. Camp alongside the beach, sample the cuisine of Pula and check out the local wares on display – the Outlook festival is an experience to be enjoyed and is an adventure in itself.
