They are thriving with both locals and the tourists who are enthusiastic about drifting away in the waters. The neighbourhood is also abundant with restaurants, bars, and other attractions.

5. Views from North Head Historic Reserve

Looking for a picnic spot that also comes with great views? Then, the North Head historic reserve at Devonport will fit your bill perfectly. A ferry ride from Auckland, the reserve trail here is home to plenty of the area’s military history. Pack a picnic lunch for your entire family, glance through the military installations, check out the Naval museum and gaze at the amazing views. The reserve opens at 6 am and the vehicle gate closes at 8 pm.

Despite being known for its liveliness, Auckland is still resident to a number of peaceful oases. Parnell rose gardens, Auckland Domain, Albert Park, and Auckland Botanical gardens to name a few. Adorned with colourful roses, Parnell is an excellent spot for romance. Auckland Domain, the oldest park in Auckland is a gem of a place of visit. 7. Cinema under the starry sky

While summer in New Zealand is the season to rejoice, being in Auckland will make it extra special. Summer is when Silo Park comes to life. And the most amazing part – every Friday exactly at 9 pm, a classic movie gets screened in the open. And, you can watch it under the stars for free! Just bring your blanket along and you are all set to experience something special and unique. There is a range of delicious food trucks parked around to grab dinner from.

Thanks to the wonderful location of Auckland, the city is scattered with beaches where you can unwind. Soak in the picturesque scenery on offer at the Black Beach and try climbing the Lion Rock. Hangout at one of the quaint little cafes at Bethells Beach. For the children, there is the Takapuna Beach. Take a swim at the Orewa Beach and go on a stroll along the St. Helier’s Bay.

9. Take a trip to Manukau Heads Lighthouse


Resembling something out of a comic book, Manukau Heads Lighthouse is a landmark structure in Auckland that you shouldn’t miss.
