Thailand has extended the privilege of free visa on arrival for India and China in the existing list of 17 countries till April 2020. This bold move may be attributed to the dip in Thailand’s tourism in the first half of 2019, and the consequent decline in the arrival forecast from 40.2M to 39-39.8M.
Thailand’s Tourism Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn says this timely move on a free visa can realign their growth track, given November to March is the peak season to visit Thailand.
