Colour your winters bright yellow when you are in the province of Lopburi, just a 2.5 hour drive from Bangkok. Famous for its sunflowers that are in full bloom between November and February, watch the sunflower fields on your bike or by taking a ride on the tractor. Another interesting way to sight the sunflowers is by boarding a special train from Hua Lamphong station.

Our tip: Leave early in the morning from Bangkok to be met with sights of sunflowers rising to face the sun.

Buy: Watch the markets flood with souvenirs and snacks related to sunflowers, including t-shirts, umbrellas and whatnot.

Flora Park Festival

The showstopper of this event is not one but flowers from 20 different species. From Campanulata to Pink Cassia and even roses, the flowers are displayed in 5 different zones. One even hosts a viewing tower that lets you catch panoramic views of this place. Hosted at the Flora Park in the Wang Nam Khiao district, the flowers are set in patterns that will awe you. Here are other wonders of Thailand you should explore.

Our tip: Combine this viewing with a visit to the Khao Yai National Park full of splendid waterfalls, biking trails and acres of natural wonders to explore.

Buy: Amp up your grocery shopping skills and go grab some fresh veggies, fruits and other organic products here.

Every November the hills and valley of Mae Hong Son comes alive in shades of gold. Smaller than typical sunflower, the hills are alive with the blooms of Dok Bua Tong or the wild sunflower. In bloom only for a month, take a drive by this field of gold to best sight these Mexican sunflowers.

Our tip: A great viewpoint is the Doi Mae Ou Kor mountain.

Buy: Find an attractive display of local arts and crafts along with fresh fruits and vegetables along the route of Bua Tong.
