A newbie’s travel tale – Strike one at Singapore!

Working with Pickyourtrail gave me the opportunity to explore places virtually. Now, that was the turning point indeed! Nothing can be better than travelling to places with your best bud right? With quick and efficient planning, we embarked on what was my first international trip to Singapore – an earthly paradise.

With no number of adjectives good enough to describe the jam-packed trip, here’s my very own travelogue about my 4 days and 3 nights trip to Singapore.

Day 1

We landed in Singapore close to 11: 30 AM. Hunger games started! After the baggage was collected and the other formalities were completed, we headed straight to the McDonalds inside Changi Airport. Once we were done with it, a Singtel sim card (local sim card) and EZ-link card (transportation card) were purchased. Checked in at the hotel around noon and freshened up.

Afternoon

Walked the lanes around the Balestier arena and explored many coffee shops by the street side to satisfy our caffeine cravings. We ordered kopi (with milk) and teh (tea). With extra caffeine energy enriching our souls, we set off to get some local sightings done.

Evening & Night

Hopped onto the nearest MRT (Novena station) and made our way to Little India. Justice to the name, every little thing about this place had something or the other connected to our Incredible India! From local shops selling garlands, jilebis, Indian kurthis to typical south-Indian food serving restaurants like Ananda Bhavan and Komalas – Little India was LIT on the whole. We also visited the Srinivasa Perumal Koil where the temple’s ambience was glorious.  We made the best of Mustafa Mall for shopping scenes. For dinner, we had vegetable biriyani and popodam at Sitara Indian Restaurant in Little India. Got a cab to head back to the hotel with the help of Grab taxi application where 6$ was laid off since it was our first ride using the application.

Day 2

Universal Studio it is! We dedicated our day to the all-time magnificent entertainment arena of Singapore. Since we had the Express Pass, our rides were completed with ease. Started with the Transformers rides which easily was our favourite one! Simulations and roller coasters are indeed fun to be tried on yeah? The other rides which were brilliant were the ones in Jurassic Park and Egyptian Mummy rides. The Madagascar and Shrek shows were adorable as well. Not to forget the pizza joint in the Newyork lane, which is a MUST TRY for sure!

After we wrapped up the rides inside Universal Studio, we did some chocolate shopping in Hersheys. Took the free shuttle from Sentosa which dropped us at HarbourFront from where we took the MRT to Clarke Quay. After a delicious dinner at Chili’s restaurant, we roamed the streets to check out the live bar scenes in the nearby lanes. Got back to the hotel using MRT service which dropped us at Novena.

Day 3

Started the day by gaping at the mind-blowing architecture of Marina Bay Hotel. We treated ourselves to an amazing Italian gelato at the SWEET SPOT cafe inside Marina Bay Hotel. Roamed inside the mall and got exposed to splendid sights. After this, we checked out the Merlion and later headed to Gardens at the Bay. An eye-captivating scenery will be an understatement to describe this place. The green landscape and tall flower buildings looked too attractive to be real. After walking down the garden lanes, we hopped into the MRT and reached Raffles place where the famous shopping streets of Burgis and Malay are present.

Great deals and lovely collections of all kinds of goods are available in the Bugis streets. We stopped for the exotic Godiva Vanilla chocolate ice cream. We also had the famous Kaya Toast in Burgis (Vegetarian butter toast) which was super delicious!

Once we were done with the shopping scenes we headed back to Marina Bay to witness the glorious night show. Finally, we finished our dinner at Indian Muslim Restaurant in Zhongshan Mall and started packing the essentials to head back to home sweet home!
